Prime Re Academy is pleased to invite you to attend its workshop in Zurich, Switzerland in March 2019. Focus will be set on the following topic:

Basic Casualty

The workshop aims at learning or refreshing some general principles and challenges in underwriting Casualty lines of business. The focus of the workshop is on Liability Insurance and various sublines.

The topics addressed in the workshop will include:

• Casualty vs. Liability , GTPL - definition, characteristics and hazards

• Liability situations

• Content of a GTPL policy

• Pricing considerations

• Product Recall and Product Tampering

• Environmental Impairment Liability

• Emerging Risks

• Professional Indemnity

• Construction Risks, incl. PI for Architects and Engineers

It addresses both, the underlying theory and concepts, as well as the practical implications in underwriting Casualty business.

Target Group

The workshop is designed for all professionals who are interested in understanding and broadening their skills in underwriting Casualty insurance. Participants should be familiar with the basic principles and concepts of Casualty insurance.

Conceptual framework

The Prime Re Academy workshops are of technical nature and structured so that theory and practice alternately complement each other, creating a lively learning platform. Thanks to the interlocking of theory and practice, the course contents can be taught in a most efficient manner and the participants can be challenged intensively.

Moreover, to enhance the international learning experience and networking, the workshop starts in the afternoon and includes joint dinners: this way the participants quickly get to know each other and the lecturers, so that promptly a dynamic atmosphere of mutual challenge and know-how transfer sets in. In particular we encourage the participants to steer the focus of the workshop according to their current needs, e.g. with more emphasis on life or property & casualty business.

Registration will be closed after 11 March 2019.

Venue

This workshop will be held in Zurich. The exact location will be communicated at a later date.

Dress casual and comfortable. We suggest that participants from abroad reserve their hotel room in Zurich well in advance. Alternatively, they can ask us for assistance with booking a room at a convenient location.

Fees

CHF 1’800 regular price

CHF 600 for unemployed participants

A discount of CHF 500 for the third participant of the same company will be granted. These fees are binding and must be transferred latest 11 March 2019.

The fees include:

- the workshop

- the documentation

- the dinners and lunches

- all Swiss taxes

The fees will be refunded in total in case of cancellation before 11 March 2019 or if the workshop must be cancelled.

Lecturers

René Oefeli

Holds a Master in Law from the University of Zurich and comes with 16 years of experience in Swiss Direct Insurance ("AXA-Winterthur") as a Liability Underwriter. He joined Swiss Re in 1995 (Group Product Management Casualty) and was Swiss Re's representative in the 'Liability Committee' of the Swiss Insurance Association/SIA. He also took care of Emerging Risks and was the Leader of the network "Expert Circle for Emerging Risks" at Swiss Re from 2001 until 2007. He was further involved in the Definition of Swiss Re's Casualty U/W Guidelines, Referral Cases and Renewal Messages (regarding 'Asbestos', GMOs, EMF etc.) and leader of a w/w network for Product Recall and Product Tampering Insurance. Further he was a Single Risks Casualty Underwriter in Division Europe for French speaking countries and gave internal and external trainings at the Swiss Re Academy from 2008 until 2018 on the topic 'all Casualty matters'. Today he is responsible for all Casualty Client Programs at the "Swiss Re Institute".

Jürg Busenhart

Worked as a senior liability product manager in Swiss Re's Property&Casualty Reinsurance Products Centre. He hold various product management functions in Single Risk and Reinsurance business, was supporting as senior risk manager the oversight of Property&Casualty risks in Swiss Re's Risk Management function, and acted as expert in specialized liability issues, liability insurance/reinsurance solutions and emerging risks. He lead Swiss Re's Group Centre of Competence Environmental Liability and was a member of the Insurance Europe Liability/Insurability Working Group and Environmental Liability Project Group. He worked in the chemical industry and graduated from the University of Zurich with a master in law. He joined Swiss Re in 1996 after working for several years as senior liability insurance specialist and head of product development in primary insurance.
